Military tankers and water cannons were deployed on the streets, followed by 450 additional police vehicles

By Crime & Courts Reporter – The Emmerson Mnangagwa-led government has recently deployed military fuel tankers and water cannons on the streets to intimidate citizens and has subsequently added 450 new vehicles to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

The vehicles were commissioned by Deputy President Kambo Mohadi in Harare on Thursday.

Minister of Interior Kazembe Kazembe said:
“It is for this reason and many others that the people of Zimbabwe remain grateful for the government’s stance and leadership,” Kazembe said. “I am honoured to highlight that in addition to this batch of vehicles, the government is also providing the police with cutting-edge technology.”
He added: “This fleet will significantly improve policing services which are vital for field attendance, public order management, patrolling, traffic enforcement, border patrol and general administration.”
Last year, President Mnangagwa ordered 755 vehicles for the police force.
