Taylor’s soaring voice had powered Aerosmith’s numerous hits since the band formed in 1970, including “Dream On,” “Walk This Way” and “Sweet Emotion.” When Taylor was injured, the band was about to embark on a 40-date farewell tour.
“We always look to wow our audiences at our performances. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other,” the band said in a statement to fans on Friday.
“It’s the honor of our lives to have our music be a part of you,” the band said. “In every club, on every big tour, and in moments big and small, you’ve allowed us to have a place in the soundtrack of your lives.”
Aerosmith is a four-time Grammy Award-winning band that includes Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer.
