Acting Sports Minister Somsak Tsemsak ordered the head of the National Tax Department to review budget expenditures. Asia Indoor has paid 980 million baht following complaints about its value and transparency.
August 17, 2024 Update: The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) will host the 6th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games. The competition has been postponed three times until the latest schedule. It will be held from November 21 to 30, 2024.
It has been reported that 14 events will be cut in order to reduce the organizing budget for the Thai competition. Thailand also has a deadline to confirm the competition will be held on August 19, 2024.
Recently, Mr. Jirawat Arunyakanon, former advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, revealed that Mr. Sermsak Phongpanich, Acting Minister of Tourism and Sports, has sent a letter to the Director of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) regarding the organization of the 6th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games on August 7, 2024.
According to the State Administration of Taxation, the Department of Taxation has ordered a reduction in the amount. The amount is 179,997,615 baht for hosting the 6th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games, which is probably a budget that needs to be managed. Another competition is money. 1,218,908,185 baht
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has considered and hereby informs that the 6th Indoor Martial Arts Games has been postponed for many years due to the holding of the A Khian Sports Competition. “Therefore, I would like to ask the Director General of the State Taxation Department to inform the Olympic Council of Asia that the Thai authorities have confirmed that they will hold the 6th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games as promised.”

Since the amount of funds proposed to be used to organize the Games is over 1.2 billion Baht, there are many details. Therefore, we request that the specifics and necessary justifications be submitted to the Sub-Committee for Sports Development for review and screening. Immediate consideration is then requested to report the budget amount that has been screened and submit it to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports for further action.
This is to make the organization of the 6th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games transparent, valuable and free of any scandal. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has informed the offices of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Office of the Auditor General of Thailand to consider taking action, according to another authority.
