Most of the bed bugs are found in serviced hotels, and entomologist and associate professor of biology Voldemārs Spuņgis said that bed bugs are blood-sucking animals that detect their victims by sensing the heat radiated by the human body. “From an insect and parasite perspective, there’s nothing to be afraid of with bed bugs. The thing about bed bugs is that they have six stages of development from the time they lay their eggs, and during that time, they suck blood at each stage so that they can move on to the next stage,” Spurges explained to the show.

Bed bugs are difficult to deal with, as they reproduce quickly, are very hardy and highly resistant to chemicals. As one of the solutions, the plot creators mentioned special chemicals, cleaning beds, mattresses and other furniture with hot steam, washing clothes at a temperature not lower than +55 degrees and destroying the lesions.
