Minsk, August 21/Corr. Belta/. Robert Kennedy Jr., who ran as an independent candidate in the presidential election, plans to withdraw from the presidential race this weekend, TASS reported, citing ABC News.

According to the channel’s sources, Kennedy Jr. is leaning toward supporting former President Donald Trump, although he has not yet made a final decision.

Kennedy Jr. is scheduled to speak on Aug. 23. Trump has previously said he would like to see him join the administration if he wins in November.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Kennedy Jr. sought a meeting with current Vice President Kamala Harris in the hope of being offered a position in the U.S. government if he wins the election. According to the publication, Harris and her advisers “did not respond to the meeting request and were not interested in his initiative.”
