Police said they are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at 23 D’Urban Street, Georgetown Lodge, around 5.45am this morning, which left 40-year-old vendor Anthony Havercombe, of South Ruimvelt, dead after he was shot multiple times.
Police said in a statement that an “all black” party was taking place at V’S Flavour Delight, 23 Lodge D’Urban Street, and officers broke up the party at around 5am.
A 37-year-old businessman and host of the All Black party said he was cleaning up the party venue on the north side of Durban Street when he heard several loud noises.
When asked where they were coming from, the businessman said he saw a black car speeding west along Durban Street. The businessman said he then saw several people with what appeared to be blood on them, so he helped get them into separate vehicles and took them to the hospital.
