On Thursday afternoon, July 18, a man was shot and wounded at the gate of a street in the upper part of the Abdón Calderón neighborhood, west of the city of Esmeraldas.
Esmeraldas Divisional Police confirmed that the attack took place after 6:00 pm on Abdón Calderón and Octava streets.
The injured person is a student around 16 years old. He was initially transferred to the emergency area of the Social Security Primary Hospital, a few blocks away from where the incident occurred.
Doctors recommended taking him to another nursing home under police protection to avoid any new circumstances. As of 10:00 p.m., the injured man was in stable condition.
Witnesses revealed that the injured man was wearing an education unit uniform, carrying a backpack, and walking on the sidewalk when he was attacked. Blood was left near the door of the house.
Police departments coordinated a search for the suspects, who witnesses described as men on motorcycles.
The collection of evidence and information is also coordinated with the National Police, Criminal Investigation and Judicial Police.
This is the first time an incident of this nature has occurred in the Abdón Calderón community. (I)
