The Covid-19 epidemic is showing an increasing trend in the number of cases both in the world and in Vietnam.
Recently, the Department of Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health has issued an urgent notice to health departments of all provinces and cities, requiring them to strengthen the management and reporting of infection cases. So far, Vietnam has recorded the emergence of sub-variants of the Omicron variant (BA.4, BA.5, BA.2.75, BA.2.12.1). The above variants have the ability to spread rapidly, especially as the country has recently recorded about 2,000 cases per day. The number of cases is showing a trend of increasing again.

In addition, some places have announced a large number of new cases, which makes it difficult to accurately reflect the epidemic situation and brings difficulties to the identification, prediction and assessment of the epidemic. The Ministry of Health requires the heads of medical institutions to guide the implementation of a number of additional contents to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic:
– Review data regularly and report in a timely manner to avoid reporting a large number of new cases. This does not accurately reflect the epidemic situation and brings difficulties to epidemic identification, prediction and assessment.
– Continue to declare and obtain a patient code on the Ministry of Health’s automated code issuance system immediately upon receiving test results for Covid-19 cases.
– Guide, monitor and closely follow the epidemic situation in the region, especially the latest variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus; regularly assess the epidemic level and adjust epidemic prevention and control measures in a timely manner; strengthen monitoring, early detection, timely treatment, and limit severe cases and deaths.
– Immediately after diagnosis, comply with the information, reporting and comprehensive declaration system for cases of Covid-19 disease (category A infectious disease), ensuring timely reporting to the Ministry of Health, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Epidemic Prevention and Control, and the Prime Minister within 24 hours in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health.

Recently, the Health Department of Hai Phong City reported 402,830 new cases, Thai Nguyen Province reported 152,485 new cases, and Nghe An Province reported more than 4,400 new cases. As of now, Vietnam has 11,367,479 COVID-19 cases, ranking 12th among 227 countries and regions. |
