Police have charged a 46-year-old man with murder after a woman died in the west Auckland suburb of Massey.
Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie said police responded to a home in Chorley Ave about 12.50am on Sunday and found a woman dead.
“Police have launched a homicide investigation and a 43-year-old man has been detained,” Goldie said.
“Scene examinations have begun today and will continue into tomorrow as we continue to conduct further investigations to piece together the full course of events.”
An autopsy has been completed.
The man charged with murder, who was known to the victim, will appear in Waitākere Local Court tomorrow.
This is the second homicide investigation police have launched today.
Police released information earlier this evening that another homicide investigation is underway following the death of a man on the Kapiti Coast this afternoon.

The suspected stabbing took place at Napier Grove at Waikana Beach, north of Wellington.
Detective Senior Sergeant Pete Middlemiss said police received reports a man had been seriously injured following an altercation at around 4.20pm.
“The man received medical treatment at the scene but sadly died.
“A cordon has been set up and site checks will be carried out over the next few days.
“The victim knew another man who was in the house at the time and he is speaking to police and assisting with their inquiries.
“Police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public as a result of this incident. Investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.”
