Detawan Gunn, 30, of Memphis, has been charged with five counts of attempted second-degree murder in connection with the shooting that occurred Friday, Aug. 16, at the popular Cooper-Young neighborhood bar and restaurant, records show.
Memphis Police (MPD) previously reported that three people were shot.
But court documents obtained by CNN show that after the shooting began around 8:30 p.m., police arrived at the scene and found four people with gunshot wounds. Two vehicles were also hit by gunfire, records show.
Police previously said the shooting occurred after two men argued over parking at the restaurant.
Court records show a Railroad Park man followed the gunman for more than two miles to the intersection of East E.H. Crump Boulevard and South Camilla Street, where the gunman was shot and killed.
Investigators obtained surveillance video showing the gunman leaving Railroad Gardens in a gray Lexus SC and then linked it to the shooting based on information from Gunn’s vehicle.
Gunn was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Wednesday, records show. Bail has not yet been set for him.
He is due to appear in court on Friday.
