The last words of a fire captain of 20 years who shot and killed a freshman student at the station have been revealed.

At 12:30 on May 4, 2024, Lieutenant Pitiphan Wongaree, an investigating officer of the Muang Samut Songkhram Police Station, received a report of a shooting inside the Samut Songkhram City Fire Station. So, he went to inspect it together with Major General Sompopo Kuhawitchanan. Samut Songkhram Police Chief Colonel Sayam Insuwanno, Muang Samut Songkhram Police Chief Dr. Pipat Prathanphon, Somdej Phra Phutthalertla Hospital duty doctor, forensic police Samut Songkhram, and rescue personnel from the Sawang Benjatham Samut Songkhram Foundation. The scene was the broadcasting room of the fire station. Located in front of Samut Songkhram.

The body of Mr. Nanthaporn, 25, a firefighter, was found on the sofa. He was wearing a red T-shirt. He covered it with a long-sleeved shirt. He was wearing black pants. He was shot in the head with an 11 mm gun, and his blood was all over the floor. He was lying next to the sliding glass, still holding a phone in his right hand. A bullet shell was found inside the door.

As for the culprit the next name I know is Mr. Charoen or Mr. Diao, 48 years old, day shift supervisor. Standing surrender, carrying 1 11mm gun, 1 magazine with 4 11mm bullets and 1 black cloth gun holster.

Chaiwat Omnok, chief of the Samut Songkhram Fire Department, said his subordinates told him that there were three policemen in the radio room before the incident: the radio operator, Mr. Tinnakorn, was sitting and acting as a road supervisor; the deceased, Mr. Nanthaporn, was lying down and playing with his mobile phone. Another firefighter was sleeping when a total of three policemen walked in, fired a shot, and said, “You don’t respect me.” Then walked outside to call the commander (the mayor of Samut Songkhram) before walking out to surrender.

Chaiwat said that Teacher Diao deliberately caused the incident. He was very serious about his work until sometimes his subordinates did not do things correctly and had disputes with their superiors. Disrespect for superiors may cause dissatisfaction with single teachers. The deceased had only been working for more than 5 months and had not received basic fire training. He will be sent to training to receive disciplinary action.

Mr. Tinnacohen, a radio operator, said that he was on duty when he heard a loud noise and thought that a tire had exploded. When he looked back, he found that the deceased had been shot. Through the CCTV camera inspection (the time on the camera was about 30 minutes slower than the actual time.) It was found that the assailant walked out of the room and picked up a gun from a pickup truck parked downstairs. Before entering the room, he went out to call the mayor. Then he walked to the front of the incident room and waited to surrender.

Initial investigations found that the perpetrator, Mr. Charon, aka Teacher Diao, had been working for nearly 20 years and was serious about his job. While the deceased, Mr. Nanthaporn, had only worked for about 6 months, which may have led to him not understanding his job. It was not until the incident caused wounds that led to the conflict escalating, and the deceased, Mr. Nanthaporn, had posted a photo of him holding a gun on his personal Facebook page. The deceased was a boxer. Therefore, this may have been an incentive for the single teacher who was having problems at work It is believed that someone was carrying a gun to make threats. Officials will send the body of the deceased, Mr. Nanthaporn, to the Police Hospital for an autopsy and continue investigations to find out the real cause.
