When the Panevěž police began to clarify the circumstances of the mysterious incident in which the little boy’s legs were burned, it turned out that the horrific scenario he described was not confirmed.

An 8-year-old boy was admitted to the Panevėžys Republican Hospital at around 8 p.m. on Thursday with burns on his legs.
That same evening, the woman from Panevėžys asked for help on social networks, announcing that she was looking for someone who saw her child injured.
According to the woman, her son was injured around 6-7 p.m. near 72 Staniūnai Street when a stranger poured flammable liquid on him and set him on fire.
The boy’s legs were burned.
Karolina Miganovičienė, a specialist at the Communications Branch of the Panevėžys County Police Headquarters, said that the hospital doctors informed the police about the injured children.
“Officials communicated with the child’s mother. She explained that around 6 p.m. her son came back from the yard with his friends and said that on the way home, when he was alone, an unknown boy older than him came up, poured liquid on his legs and set it on fire. But it quickly went out and went back home”, commented K. Miganovičienė.
However, after police questioning, it was discovered that the story of the horrific attack was just a child’s fantasy.
According to K. Miganovičienė, the boy’s friends were interviewed when clarifying the circumstances of the incident. It turned out that the children accidentally set the fire, so the eight-year-old burned his legs, and the boy invented the version of arson.
