Duda and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky met on Saturday at a solemn ceremony in the Ukrainian capital to mark the 33rd anniversary of the country’s declaration of independence and discussed cooperation and security issues, Polish news agency PAP reported.
August 24 marks the anniversary of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR adopting the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine in 1991.
At the ceremony, Duda addressed Ukrainians, saying: “Poland is with you, it has been with you since the Russian aggression.”
He added that he and Lithuanian President Gitan Nausėda visited Kyiv on the eve of the Russian invasion on February 23, 2022, and that he had met with Zelensky several times since the start of the war in Ukraine, Poland and international forums.
