CEBU CITY, Philippines — Law enforcement officers arrested a drug suspect during a takeover operation in Sitio Kadulang, Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Thursday.

The arrested person was identified as Mark Niño Caliniahan, 26, unemployed, from Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

However, he rented a place in Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 (PDEA-7), in collaboration with the Central Naval Forces and the Lapu-Lapu City Police Station, conducted the anti-drug operation around 2:00 p.m.

They seized two bags of suspected methamphetamine weighing about two kilograms from Kalinyahan. The average street value of the drugs was estimated to be P13,600,000.

In addition, the police also seized a mobile phone, Chinese tea packaging and other non-drug paraphernalia during the operation.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Team 7 spokeswoman Leia Alcantara said the suspect was an illegal drug supplier to some previously arrested dealers.

She added that they spent a week investigating the case after receiving the tip-off of confidential information.

Kalinihan is allowed to sell one kilogram of drugs per week to clients in Bohol and Cebu provinces.

As of this writing, the suspect is in custody of authorities awaiting charges for possession and trafficking of illegal drugs.
