Iran continues to move forward in the cycle of global warming, and its shock is the increase in thermal shocks. Previously, the thermal shock lasted one to two days, but today it has reached a week to a month, which is the warning of experts on climate change. In this regard, the head of the National Water Resources Research Institute said: “50% of the provinces in the country have an average weekly temperature increase of 2 degrees, and 30% of the provinces have reached more than 3 degrees. The temperature difference between one part of the country and another part has exceeded 40 degrees.”

According to the Meteorological Organization, by tonight (Thursday), the temperature is expected to be relatively high and the hot air mass will continue, while the temperature in the whole province will drop relatively from Friday.

However, Mohammadreza Kavianpour, director of the country’s Water Research Institute, said that global warming continues, adding: “In the past few days, the difference between the minimum and maximum temperatures in the country has reached more than 40 degrees; that is, the difference between one point in the country and another is more than 40 degrees. In recent years, the temperature of the earth has changed significantly, especially from 2023 to now, that is, the beginning of 2024. In 2023, the global temperature rise reached 1.48 degrees, a record that was broken in 2024, so that this year is recognized as the hottest year in the world compared to the previous historical period.

He announced that the minimum temperature (nighttime temperature) this summer has risen significantly compared to the maximum temperature (daytime temperature), adding: “Nighttime and daytime temperatures are rapidly approaching, and the temperatures of this issue are unprecedented in history. . Last week, the national average temperature rose by 2.8 degrees, the average temperature in Yadzd province rose by 5.4 degrees, and the average temperature in South Khorasan province rose by 4.7 degrees. 50% of the country’s provinces have an average weekly temperature increase of 2 degrees, and 30% of the provinces have reached more than 3 degrees.

He said that according to the forecast, the hot air will continue in most parts of the country this week and next week, adding: Due to the arrival of the system and monsoon from the Mediterranean side and its approach to Iran, a relative drop in temperature is expected in some parts of the country. According to this, from this weekend, the temperature in the central part of the north of the country will slowly drop relatively, but the central part of the south will still experience stable high temperature weather, which will continue until the end of the month. Next week.

Prepare for crisis management

In this context, the capital’s crisis management department has been put on alert after announcing a warning of continued high temperatures and has provided necessary advice in this regard to rescue and service organizations. Speaking about the alert issued by the Meteorological Organization, Hamid Yazdi Mehr, director of the Tehran Province Crisis Management Department, said: “According to the forecast and warning issued by the Meteorological Organization, we are witnessing hot weather.”

The director of crisis management in Tehran province warned about the risk of heat stroke, especially for sensitive groups, children and the elderly, and said: The strict advice of crisis management is that on days with high temperature warnings, people, especially sensitive groups, should not leave their homes under any circumstances, and if it is necessary to go outdoors, always use hats and sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes from the heat and the sun’s harmful rays. He also warned against leaving children or the elderly in parked and closed vehicles, saying: “In some cases, we have witnessed these careless behaviors in the past few years, and it is necessary to warn in this regard, and people should pay due attention to this issue.”
