The Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Boubakar Savadogo, launched the theoretical examinations to obtain the Professional Technician Certificate (BPT) on August 6, 2024, at the Professional Training and Reference Centre in Zignare. These events will take place from August 6 to 13, 2024, in the two regional capitals: Bobo-Dioulasso and Zignare. A total of 780 candidates have registered for the 2024 session.
At around 7am, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Boubakar Savadogo, tore open the envelope containing the first topic, which the 38 candidates of the 1st Jury will submit to BPT (Pastry Chef Profession). The two-hour test covered scientific applications in hygiene, food and equipment. The exam, initiated by the first head of the Ministry of Youth and Employment, marks the official start of the composition of the theoretical exams for obtaining the professional technician certificate. It should be noted that the practical test has already been carried out. 780 candidates were divided into 12 juries for certification in 13 professions. They are telecommunications line agents, electromechanical, site managers, domestic and industrial installation wiremen, application developers, maintenance electronics engineers, automotive maintenance technicians, quantity surveyors, industrial refrigeration and central air conditioning equipment installers/troubleshooters, technicians network and computer maintenance, photovoltaic solar system installers, pastry chefs and machine tool operators.

Minister Boubacar Sawadogo said that these exams are organized not only to emphasize industry learning, but also to give the national economy a qualified workforce. “Many young people have diplomas but find it difficult to find a job. However, our economy needs a large and qualified workforce to take off. These certifications are organized within this framework,” he explained.

Boubacar Sawadogo suggested that his ministry will work to increase the number of professions that receive certification. “We have already launched a catalogue of professions in different economic sectors. We have identified 15 priority economic sectors and are working on the catalogue. In the case of crafts, for example, more than 300 professions have been listed and the decree will soon be adopted with our colleagues from the Ministry of Crafts. There are also some sports professions that are almost finalized. Then we will focus on telecommunications, digital, agriculture, animal husbandry, etc. “He said. The aim of the initiative is to allow young people to learn and practice professions, not just get diplomas.
The BPT results are scheduled to be announced on August 13, 2024.
