Among the big parties, only GERB and Vazrazhdane are currently stable, while among the smaller parties – ITN – Bulgaria

There are not many options for choosing a caretaker prime minister, and the choice will not be difficult. Dimitar Glavchev is the most likely candidate for the post. This is what mathematician and analyst Professor Mikhail Konstantinov said in the Focus on Bulgaria, Europe and the World program on Focus Radio.

He said there are two options for the presidential election: continue to have the current acting Prime Minister Glavchev as acting Prime Minister, or appoint BNB Deputy Governor Petar Chobanov, who has been confirmed by the parliament, as acting Prime Minister. The media said he would accept such an offer. “Given the short time left until the possible election date, it would be good to have someone who has accumulated some experience in this position, rather than someone who is still learning, take up this position. Therefore, it is possible that a large part of Mr. Glavchev’s current cabinet will remain in office, which shows continuity.”

Mikhail Konstantinov also explained that among the major parties, only GERB and Vazrazhdane remain stable, and among the smaller parties, only ITN remains stable. “All other parties with representation in parliament are in a state of disarray. And this instability also affects the possibility of building a sustainable government,” he said, noting that the parties must first repair their “backyards”, stabilize their party life, and then build coalitions and elections.

“Unfortunately, a large part of the political parties in our country are tired, they have nothing new to offer in politics, and their leaders are tired of the people. Therefore, if we want to improve political life in Bulgaria, we have to achieve the so-called generational change, or at least the leaders of the main political parties must be replaced,” Professor Konstantinov explained.

According to him, Bulgarian elections are held at a very high level, and in addition, Bulgaria has kept a very good database on the conduct of elections since the beginning of democratic changes. “This makes it possible to study the social dynamics in Bulgaria,” he explained, adding that the current frequency of elections is unprecedented, which is a characteristic not only of Bulgaria, but also of European countries.

He believes that political turmoil around the world is also the underlying cause of instability in our country’s political life. Wars in Europe, conflicts around the world, and the upcoming uncertain election in the United States – “the world lives in absolute uncertainty, which also affects the political life of our country.”
