US military personnel injured in attack on Iraqi base

Several American personnel were wounded in an attack on an Iraqi military base as concerns in the region grew over the killings of senior Hamas and Hezbollah members last week, three U.S. officials told Reuters.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that the alleged missile attack took place at Iraq’s Al Asad air base.

“Base personnel are conducting damage assessments following the attack,” an official added.

Security sources said two Katyusha missiles were fired from a base in western Iraq on Monday. One security source said the missiles landed inside the base.

Last week, the United States launched a strike in Iraq against militants who American officials said were preparing to launch drones, posing a threat to American and coalition forces.
