China-made C919 aircraft begins flying its fifth scheduled commercial route

XI’AN, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) — China-made C919 jumbo jets began flying on a new route from Beijing to Xi’an, capital of Shaanxi Province, operated by China Eastern Airlines on Monday, according to reports.

At 4:00 p.m., flight MU2113 carrying 139 passengers took off from Xi’an Xianyang International Airport and flew to Beijing, marking the opening of the fifth regular commercial route for the C919 large passenger aircraft.

The flight operates daily, with the return flight departing Beijing at 8:00 pm. The flight time is approximately two and a half hours.

The C919 completed its first commercial flight in May 2023 and has since maintained regular operations between Shanghai and Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province.

As of Saturday, the C919 had flown 3,133 flights, serving nearly 420,000 passengers.
