President Lazarus Chakwera met with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba at the Presidential Palace in Lilongwe this morning to discuss global peace and territorial integrity.

“According to President Zelensky’s instructions, I convey the news of Ukraine’s decision to provide aid to Malawi as part of our ‘Food for Ukraine’ program.”
In his speech, the Malawian leader said Ukraine showed true friendship by providing food aid to the Malawian people, adding that the gesture would go a long way in helping those suffering from hunger due to the El Nino phenomenon and other disasters.
“We will continue to pray for peace in Ukraine. If there is anyone in Africa who stands with you, it is us,” Chakwera said.
Ukraine’s special envoy and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba earlier said Ukraine was willing to provide food aid to Malawi to help it alleviate the effects of hunger.
He assured the President that Ukraine would continue its efforts to provide assistance to Malawi.
