Kuwait plans to replace expatriates with locals Municipal Positions
Kuwait City, August 5: In a bid to boost domestic employment, Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan issued a directive to end the hiring of foreign workers in the municipality. The directive specifically targets foreign workers with university degrees in the municipality’s administrative structures, including those in legal, engineering, accounting and administrative positions.
All foreign employees in these sectors will be fired, according to a directive that has been conveyed to Municipality Minister Saud Al-Dubous. The decision requires a copy to be provided to the minister within three working days.
In addition, the directive includes a task to prepare a ministerial decision within three working days to terminate the services of foreign legal advisers in the legal department and other departments under the minister.
Minister Mishaan said the directive was part of a wider effort to support and utilize the national workforce, asserting that there are enough national cadres who can effectively undertake these duties.
