There was an anti-Muslim/immigrant protest in front of Belfast City Hall, as well as a counter-demonstration from various organisations.
Fireworks were reportedly thrown, injuring one bystander so far.
This mirrors the protests taking place across the UK today in protest of last Monday’s heinous attack in Southport, Merseyside, which left three children dead.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland also said that roads in the areas of College Square East, Wellington Square, Boucher Road and Coast Road are currently closed due to the ongoing protests.
The anti-Islam protesters were said to be aiming to march from Belfast City Hall to the Belfast Islamic Centre on University Road.
It is worth noting that none of these protests received permission from the Parades Committee.
