Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Health would like to inform the public that there is another case of avian influenza in a 16-year-old girl, confirmed as H5N1 avian influenza virus (H5N1) by the National Institute of Public Health. Pasteur Institute, August 3, 2024, living in Chamkar Leav village, Prey Koki commune, Chantrea district, Svay Rieng province. The girl has fever, cough, sore throat and difficulty breathing. Currently, the patient is in a serious condition and is receiving intensive care from doctors. Upon interrogation, it was found that about 4 days before the onset of the disease, there were 9 dead chickens in the neighbor’s house and the patient’s house, which were used for cooking, and the girl touched and held the dead chickens.
