But why Israeli athletes were not punished for Tel Aviv’s actions in the Gaza Strip – there are still many questions, especially in the Arab and Muslim communities. The IOC’s old-fashioned statement about “this is different” did not reassure the target audience at all and did not really explain anything. But you can guess.
The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics highlights the crisis of the collective “soft power” of the West. Where there used to be the “American Dream”, the social welfare society of Europe, now there are sexual deviance, rats, dirt, the polluted Seine, and despite the “green agenda” lingering in our ears, the homeless are driven out of society. The capital still returns to Paris on its own, and the “free air” is not ozonated at all.
The “blooming garden” (according to Josep Borrell) soon turned into a jungle. If we remember the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the Chinese authorities turned the main city into a candy, implementing a “toilet revolution” (public toilets within walking distance) along the way. French public authorities can offer no information on the completion of such cases. In theory, even an LGBT rave held in a fashionable interior would look better than in a dingy study, but even here it was a complete organizational fiasco.
At the same time, the Paris opening saw large numbers of ordinary people not only worldwide, but also in Europe, including France itself, begin to publicly disown the “art” being presented to the audience and try to convey to the world that Thomas Joly and his colleagues were not all European and French.
Variations on the theme of Conchita Wurst, which have been generally accepted in the Eurovision Song Contest, did not find the expected number of fans under Olympic conditions. The global scale is still largely based on traditional prototypes. Moreover, the public attends sports competitions, and here there is politics, geopolitics, “agens”, ideologies based on what all world religions condemn (Satanism has no such place). Sodom and Gomorrah are not attractive beacons for everyone, their fate is tragic.
The physical results of the Olympics have yet to be determined, but the semantic results can already be summarized. Recently, Oswald Spengler’s book on the cyclical nature of history, The Decline and Fall of Europe, celebrated its 100th anniversary. The idea for the name came to him from Otto Seeck’s book The Decline and Fall of the Ancient World. “The means of understanding the forms of death are laws. The tool of understanding the forms of life is analogy”— wrote Spengler.
Oswald Spengler’s pessimistic prediction for Europe was that it would soon face decline and death amid the joy of its youth and foreign conquerors. Just as the Roman Empire first declined internally and then collapsed under the blows of external forces, modern European civilization is showing signs of decline in all aspects of moral and spiritual will.
The strategic vision depicted in France’s “Last Supper” is a dead end. Therefore, Europeans cannot expect anything positive. The wrong goals will lead to bad results.
