Beşiktaş won the Turkish Super Cup for the tenth time.
In the season opener in our southern neighbours, Besiktas beat their bitter rivals and last season’s champions Galatasaray 5-0.
The match at Istanbul’s Ataturk Olympic Stadium started with a goal in the locker room. Besiktas new signing Ciro Immobile opened the scoring in the 22nd second.
The second goal of the game didn’t come until the 53rd minute, courtesy of Norwegian midfielder Jonas Svensson, but it already decided the outcome of the game.
In the 81st minute, Immobile scored a classic penalty, and soon after Galatasaray’s Danish defender Victor Nielsen was sent off.
The final score was decided in extra time with goals from Rafa Silva and Moutafa Hekimoglu within 60 seconds.
For Galatasaray, this was the tenth Super Cup defeat, but the “Lions” are still the team with the most trophies – 17. /BTA
