Italian boxer Angela Carini has publicly apologized to Algerian competitor Iman Khelif at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Her apology was published in Gazzetta dello Sport.
Carini expressed respect for the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) decision to allow Khalif to compete. “I did not intend to give up the handshake. I want to sincerely apologize to her and others. I was very angry because of my unsuccessful performance. When I see her, I will definitely hug her,” Carini said.
