Oman loses to Bahrain in Gulf basketball qualifiers

Bahrain defeated Oman 123-45 in the Under-18 Asian Cup qualifier of the Gulf Youth Championship held at the Kuwait Basketball Association Hall Sheikh Saad Abdullah Al Sabah Complex.

Oman’s performance was not as good as expected, and it suffered heavy losses on both offense and defense in the four quarters. Bahrain, on the other hand, took advantage of the opponent’s many mistakes and kept widening the gap in the four quarters, especially after the second quarter, and won easily. In the second quarter, Bahrain led 31-15 and continued to maintain its advantage, taking advantage of Oman’s defensive mistakes to expand the score. Although Oman tried hard to improve its performance, the score gap continued to widen.

At the end of the third quarter, Bahrain led 28-8. Bahrain had a clear advantage in this quarter. They quickly counterattacked and scored points easily, while Oman was weak in offense and defense.

At the end of the fourth quarter, Bahrain led 34-6 and secured the victory, while Oman continued to struggle in scoring and defense.

In this game, the scoring rate of the national team players decreased, with Abdulrahman Maali scoring 15 points alone, and the rest of the points were shared by other players of the team.

In the second game, Qatar defeated Saudi Arabia 86-76. Both sides played wonderfully in the first quarter, and Qatar advanced smoothly with a large score difference. In the second quarter, Qatar secured the victory with a 10-point advantage, achieved two consecutive victories, and became one of the strong contenders for the first place in the continental championship.

Oman will face Kuwait on Friday.
