The General Staff of the Armed Forces informed the State that, in the spirit of solidarity among the member States of the Alliance for the Sahel (AES) and using the collective defence and mutual assistance mechanisms of the Alliance for the Sahel, FAMa, in coordination with the Burkina Faso Armed Forces, began air strikes in the Tinzaouatene area on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
The campaign aims to protect the people and property in Tinzaouatene and its surroundings and to combat the terrorist alliance that is extorting, abusing and illegally trafficking the Malian people.
Specific high-value targets include hideouts, logistics sites and vehicles. During the operation, the General Staff of the Armed Forces invited civilians in the area to keep their distance from positions held by armed terrorist groups to prevent any collateral damage.
The AES Federal Armed Forces remain determined and committed to fulfilling their crowning mission of defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Confederacy.
