Bendevi Palandöken, chairman of the Turkish Craftsmen’s Union (TESK), said that “charging citizens the difference in credit card payments” when paying for vehicle inspections with credit cards is incompatible with a fair service approach.
Palandeken said in a written statement that vehicle inspection fees can be paid by credit card.
Palandeken said that for card payments, an additional fee of 77 liras was charged in the name of “credit card collection difference” and made the following comments:
“Citizens who have already paid high vehicle inspection fees do not want to be charged an additional fee when they pay by card. Charging citizens the difference in credit card collection is inconsistent with the understanding of fair service. Although credit card payment should be made easier, in addition, this additional fee was not indicated at the time of appointment, and citizens were not informed that “understanding the situation at checkout will cause unexpected financial burdens.”

Palandeken said that this year, the vehicle inspection fee for cars, minivans and pickup trucks increased from 1,149 liras to 1,821 liras, tractors, motorcycles and mopeds from 586.5 liras to 927.6 liras, and 2,000 liras for buses, trucks, trailers and tankers did.
Palandeken said that vehicle inspection fees are very high and citizens have difficulty paying these fees:
“It is not fair to charge such a high fee for a fault diagnosis that only takes 10-15 minutes at a time and there is no maintenance and repair. In fact, the vehicle has annual maintenance, fixed fees, regular monthly increase in insurance, and rising prices of fuel such as gasoline, diesel, LPG and tire fees.” “Such high costs put pressure on our businessmen. Therefore, a special inspection system for commercial vehicles should be established, and their cost burden should be reduced by providing services. Certain benefits and discounts should be provided to commercial vehicle owners.”
