The Citizens Movement through the Zatikwana Movement has launched an online protest demanding that President Lazarus Chakwera remove Homeland Security Minister Ken Tshihale Ngoma for incompetence.
The Zatikwana Movement National Youth President, Tawene Simbeye, told Zodiak Online this morning that the group believes the Ngoma group is behind the failure of the immigration department to issue passports in a timely and efficient manner.
Simbeye further stated that the group called for the swift appointment of a director general of the Immigration Department to resolve the so-called passport crisis.
But Information Minister and government spokesman Moses Kumkuyu said it was the president’s prerogative to appoint cabinet ministers.
Kunkuyu added that several issues raised in the petition were being addressed as Malawians were able to obtain passports.
