The Ombudsman’s Office helped a woman who had escaped from labour slavery to return to Uzbekistan after she had been tricked into coming to Russia earlier this year, had her passport confiscated and was forced to work in the fields.
In the Jizzakh region, a citizen appealed to the regional representative of the Human Rights Representative (Ombudsman) for practical help in returning his sister, who had been deceived into working in Russia, to Uzbekistan. Report Ombudsman Press Service.
The petitioner stated that in January 2024, citizen DO deceived his sister FS to Russia. He took the girl’s passport for registration and forced her to work in the fields for 5 months.
His sister then managed to escape to the city of Samara but was unable to return to her homeland.
The complaint was immediately taken under the control of the Ombudsman and investigated in cooperation with the Jizzakh regional branch of the NGO “Istiqbolli Avlod”.
Reports say that citizen FS was brought back to Uzbekistan on July 27 and is now in the arms of his family.
