Jamaican international goalkeeper Andre Blake, who plays for Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union, will miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing meniscus surgery.
Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin made the announcement during a press conference last Tuesday.
Curtin gave an update on Black’s condition, explaining that the goalie has been out since late April with the injury. “It was a minor surgery, a couple of little flaps in there that came loose, they cleaned out his meniscus, which had a little minor tear,” Curtin said. “But overall, you guys know how much we missed him and how important he was to this team.”

Blake’s absence is a major blow to the Reggae Boyz as they begin their 2026 CONCACAF World Cup qualifying campaign. The experienced goalkeeper will miss the opening match against the Dominican Republic. Jamaica will face the Dominican Republic on June 6 at the National Stadium in Kingston before travelling to the Dominican Republic for their second match on June 9.
