July 26, 2024 (SUKI) – Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have captured six villages southeast of Sennar city, activists said on Friday, amid reports of widespread abuses and mass displacement of civilians.

The Rapid Security Force announced on Thursday that it had taken control of the Suki area and strengthened its control over Sennar city, the capital of Sennar state.

“The Rapid Security Forces are spreading like a cancer in the villages of southeast Sennar, keen on aggression, looting and abusing defenceless citizens,” the Sennar Youth Assembly said in a statement.

The group listed the villages of Al-Trirat Al-Kufa, Ibrahim Janqoh, Ku’ Al-Nahl, Trira Madani, Al-Khalij and Qaladima as captured by the Rapid Security Forces, where looting forced the local residents to flee.

By the end of June, the RSF had seized most of Sennar state, including the strategic Jabal Moya district and the state capital, Singa. This allowed the paramilitary group to advance to several locations, while the army only controlled the city of Sennar.

Intense fighting is expected in Sennar in the coming days, with the Rapid Support Forces mobilizing fighters on four fronts: Jabal Moya in the west, Nuraniya in the south, Suki in the east, and the sugar factories in the north.
