The Albanian National Police played a major role in the completion of an international operation codenamed “Kidnap”, in which 11 Arab migrants were taken hostage by multiple individuals.

Information provided by the Albanian National Police and exchanged with the Montenegrin police through Europol helped locate and release 11 Arab migrants who were held hostage.

The hostage-takers are Afghan immigrants, two of whom were arrested in Montenegro. They threatened the hostages in the mountainous area of Montenegro with guns and demanded 50,000 euros for their release.

“As a reliable partner in the international operation to free 11 citizens (illegal immigrants from third countries) held hostage in Montenegro, as a result of the best efforts, the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security, the Traffic Investigation Department of the Narcotics Investigation Department, made it possible to organize the international code operation “kidnapping” by receiving information and exchanging information in real time.

The Albanian police provided information on the location of these citizens and other information that led to the identification of the perpetrators.

The information was exchanged through Europol with Montenegrin partners, who mobilised police and military forces to search the area and located and arrested the two perpetrators of the case, illegal immigrants from Afghanistan, in Montenegro. The police said.

After investigation, the man and two other citizens were suspected of being involved in other hostage-taking cases in the same area. In addition, 11 hostages who were raped by Afghan citizens were also found.

“Today’s operation clearly demonstrates the successful cooperation of the National Police with their Montenegrin counterparts. The Albanian National Police remains committed to doing its best to contribute to the completion of an operation of international importance”.
