A yellow warning for rain was issued for Luxembourg, parts of France and the Belgian border from Friday night into Saturday.
Weather in Luxembourg
MeteoLux has issued a yellow warning for Luxembourg on Friday evening. Heavy rain is expected between 6pm and 6am on Saturday.
The National Meteorological Service predicts that the rain will continue, with cumulative rainfall reaching 15 to 25 liters per square meter within six hours, and possibly up to 30 liters per square meter in some areas.
Some areas may see more rain depending on the rain pattern. Overnight temperatures will be between 16 and 18°C.
Weather in France
Parts of northern and eastern France are also under a yellow rain warning. The Lorraine region, especially the Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Moselle departments, is under a yellow thunderstorm warning from Météo-France until 6 a.m. Saturday. The latest forecasts show that thunderstorms could bring heavy rain in a short period of time. Temperatures in these areas will remain around 20-23°C on Friday night.
Thunderstorm warnings are in effect again for the region in the second half of Saturday. After a gloomy morning, thunderstorms are expected to intensify and spread from the Massif Central towards Alsace-Lorraine, potentially bringing heavy rainfall in a short period of time.
Weather in Belgium
In the Wallonia region, only the Luxembourg province issued a rain warning from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening.
On Friday evening, the Royal Meteorological Office reported that “the rainfall will be heavy at times, with higher accumulations in the southeastern part of the country, mainly in the Luxembourg province. Thunderstorms are also possible. There should be no heavy rain in the central part of the country, but the sky will generally become cloudy.”
Regular rainfall is expected to continue to affect the southeastern part of the country on Saturday until it finally stops in the second half of the night.
