Heavy rains flooded the capital, Aukštaitia, on Thursday night, turning streets, courtyards and shopping centers into lakes and rivers, with water almost covering cars.

Photos and videos appeared on social networks showing the spectacular madness of the elements, which left the residents of Panevėžys scratching their heads.

The rainfall in Panevėžys was so heavy that the city began to sink. The heavy rain severely disrupted traffic – flooded cars had to be parked on the streets.

Images posted on social networks showed that in some places, the water was so heavy that it almost submerged the windows of cars. Some drivers had to climb out of their cars and wade through the water.

It appears that the heaviest rainfall this time will be in the northern and western parts of the city.

Half-flooded cars were parked in the parking lots of the Panevezys car market, at the entrances to shopping malls and elsewhere in the city. Apartment courtyards in the western part of the city became inaccessible.
