They also attacked the port of Izmail.

On Thursday night, Ukrainian armed forces shot down 25 of 38 Russian Shahid drones that attacked the southern Odessa region, inland Ukraine and the port of Izmail near the Romanian border, TASR reported, according to AFP and Reuters.

“At night, the enemy used 38 Shahid attack drones to attack infrastructure in several regions of Ukraine, including in the southern part of the Odessa region and in central Ukraine,” said Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oreshchuk.

Local authorities in Izmagir reported two civilians injured and damage to infrastructure. Reuters warned that the port on the Danube was the target of a drone attack for the second consecutive night.

Oleschuk said the three drones “disappeared” after flying over Ukraine’s border with Romania, whose territory lies opposite Izmail on the other side of the Danube River.

Russia withdrew from a grain and fertilizer export agreement with Ukraine in July last year. Since then, it has begun attacking Ukrainian ports on the Danube River, which have become the main channel for Ukrainian grain exports.

The governor of Ukraine’s northern Zhytomyr region said on Thursday that air defenses had hit most of the 10 aerial targets. However, drone debris damaged private homes and infrastructure.

Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv City Military Administration, said drones attacked the capital from multiple directions. However, they were all neutralized. Popko did not report any damage or casualties.
