Presidents Alaar Kalis and Silje Kalis will attend the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on Friday at the Trocadero Square, along with other heads of state and government. The heads of state will also visit the Olympic Village, meet with the Estonian Olympic team and its supporters, and attend competitions of Estonian athletes.

Kallis is on a working visit to Paris, during which she attended the “Sport and Sustainable Development” summit aimed at promoting sports, health and education for children, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and IOC President Thomas Bach on Thursday. At the summit, the heads of state stressed the importance of a comprehensive, cross-sectoral approach to increase physical activity among children.

Sir Carice will attend a meeting of wives of heads of state and government at the invitation of French President’s wife Brigitte Macron.

“The Olympic Games are a sporting event that unites peoples and nations. The athletes at the heart of the Games have been preparing their entire lives for this moment. The head of state and Sir Carlis will return to Estonia on Sunday.

The XXXIII Summer Olympic Games will open in Paris on July 26 and last until August 11. Estonia is represented by 25 athletes in 14 sports.
