The court’s decision on bail for Bakili Muluzi TV content creator Chiyanjano Mbeza has been deferred until Friday.

Mbeza faces charges related to cybercrime, including spreading false information that could disrupt national peace and security.

According to prosecutors, Mbeza used his studio to record and post false content on various online sites, including rumours about the recent plane crash that killed nine people, including former Vice President Saulos Chilima.

Police have seized studio materials and are investigating whether anyone else was involved.

The defense team expressed concern about police arresting individuals before completing their investigations.

Mbeza will remain in custody for at least two days pending a decision on bail.

Police said the investigation was 80 percent complete and could take up to seven days to complete.
