The Ministry of Culture announced the decision in a letter on Wednesday evening.

On Wednesday, a government committee approved a proposal by Culture Minister Eric Thill to recommend Archduke Alexander Eck as the new director of the Luxembourg Language Centre (ZLS). He succeeds Luc Marteling, who has been RTL’s information director since July 1.

The studied lexicographer, Alexandre Ecker, has been part of the ZLS team since 2004 and is one of the architects of the Luxembourg online dictionary, lod.lu.

Alexandre Ecker will take over the position on October 1, 2024. The current Luxembourgish language commissioner, Pierre Reding, will serve in the interim capacity.
