Poet and writer Ferit Edgü made his last journey after afternoon prayers at Teşvikiye Mosque.
During the ceremony, Ferit Edgu’s wife Filiz Bill Edgu, son Yunus Edgu and daughter Esma Edgu and his relatives received condolences.
Poet Lale Müldür, who attended the funeral, said Ferit Edgü was a very dear person to her and said: “It is very difficult to speak in this situation. It is difficult for me to speak, I am confused. I am sorry.” said.
Ferit Edgu was buried at the Assyan Cemetery after prayers.
Who is Ferit Edgu?
The master writer, whose full name is Ismail Ferit Edgü, was born in Istanbul on February 24, 1936. He began his education at the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, and continued his studies in Paris.
The artist has created numerous works in the genres of stories, essays, novels, poems, memoirs, biographies, children’s books and plays, and has published works by contemporary Turkish and world writers and poets at Ada Publications, which he founded between 1976 and 1990.
In 1979, Edgü was considered worthy of the Turkish Language Association Award for his books On the Boat, Sait Faik Story Gift and Lecture Notes, and received the Sedat Simavi Foundation Literature Award for his book A Wrote Shadows of September, 1988.
