Ennahda calls for the release of Ajmi Lulimi and all political prisoners

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Ennahda party reacted to the arrest warrant issued for its Secretary-General Ajmi Lourimi and leaders Mohamed Ghannoudi and Mossâab Gharbi.

The movement believes the charges against its leaders are part of a crackdown on political opponents and an attempt to prevent them from taking part in presidential elections next October.

He recalled that the arrest of Ajimi Lulimi came at a time when he had called on all parties to engage in dialogue and that Ennahda had decided to open the way for its members and their base to provide sponsorship to the candidates they supported.

Ennahda concluded by calling for the immediate release of its leaders and all political prisoners, stressing that it would continue to work in this direction.

Ines Harrath, lawyer and member of the defence committee of Ennahda secretary-general Ajmi Lourimi, announced that the investigating judge of the anti-terrorist judiciary had issued a detention order for her client.

As a reminder, Ennahda Secretary-General Ajmi Lourimi was arrested on the evening of Saturday, July 13, 2024. He was accompanied by Mohamed Ghannoudi and Mossâab Gharbi. Mossâab Gharbi was arrested in execution of an arrest warrant previously issued to him by the judicial authorities.

Yesterday, the chief investigating judge of the Anti-Terrorism Judicial Centre issued arrest warrants for Mohammad Ghanoudi and Mosab Gharbi.
