WikiLeaks founder and whistleblower Julian Assange was all smiles on a deserted beach in Australia in a photo his wife posted on social networks on Monday, nearly a month after returning to his home country.
Stella Assange offered a rare glimpse into the new life of her 53-year-old husband, who was released on June 26 after nearly 14 years of legal trouble. He has shunned the spotlight since his emotional reunion with his wife at the airport in the Australian capital, Canberra.

Stella Assange simply wrote “Family photo” on the photo published on social networks, in which he is smiling on a wild beach, hugging his wife and looking at his sons Gabriel and Max with a big smile. The exact location is not specified, but according to media reports, it is a beach in Australia.
“Enjoy your freedom”
Stella Assange, who married the WikiLeaks founder while he was imprisoned in London’s high-security Belmarsh prison, has previously said he would use his freedom to “swim in the sea every day”.
“He plans to sleep in a real bed. He plans to taste real food. He plans to take advantage of his freedom,” the lawyer declared to reporters shortly after arriving in Australia. On July 3, Julian Assange’s birthday, she posted a photo of the couple in the forest with the caption: “Free! Free!”.
The WikiLeaks founder was arrested by British police in April 2019 after spending seven years in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London to avoid extradition to Sweden over a rape investigation that was dismissed the same year.
Defender of freedom of information
He then spent five years in Belmarsh fighting extradition to the United States and being charged under the Espionage Act of 1917.
Since 2010, Julian Assange has published more than 700,000 documents on Washington’s military and diplomatic activities, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan, on the WikiLeaks platform, earning him a reputation as a defender of free speech.
He was jailed and released after pleading guilty in a US court, the end of a long legal saga.
