Bulgarian tennis hope Adrian Andreyev will face Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in the first round of the “Challenger” series in Verona, an event with a prize money of 120,000 euros.
The draw for the tournament was drawn today and the experienced 32-year-old Basilashvili entered from the qualifying round. During his career he has won five ATP titles and in May 2019 he was ranked 19th in the rankings. His best Grand Slam result was reaching the fourth round at the US Open. The Georgian defeated Mateus Puccinelli de Almeida (Brazil) in the qualifying final 6:4, 7:6 (7:3).
Another Bulgarian player who has already entered the main draw, Peter Nesterov, qualified for the main draw after defeating another compatriot in the qualifiers. He dealt with Yanaki Milev 6:7(2), 6:3, 6:4. There is a high probability that the two Bulgarians will meet in the first round of the main draw.
But Nesterov will be paired with 24-year-old Italian Federico Arnaboldi, who, like him, came from the qualifying round. Arnaboldi defeated Gustavo Villanueva (Argentina) 6:3, 6:2 in a 140-minute match.
