Barack Obama praises Joe Biden for dropping out of presidential race, but doesn’t talk about VP Kamala Harris’ endorsement

Former US President Barack Obama has expressed his support for current White House leader Joe Biden after he dropped out of the presidential race.

“Joe Biden is one of the most consequential presidents of our country, a dear friend and partner of mine. Today, we were reminded once again that he is a patriot of the highest order. I know Joe never backs down from a fight. For him to look at the political landscape and decide to pass the baton to a new candidate was undoubtedly one of the most difficult things in his life. But I know he would not have made this decision if he didn’t think it was good for America.

It’s a testament to Joe Biden’s love for country and a historic example of a true public servant who once again put the interests of the American people above his own, worthy of emulation by future generations of leaders. We will navigate uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have great confidence that our party leaders will be able to create a process that produces an excellent candidate. I believe Joe Biden’s vision of a generous, prosperous, and united America with opportunity for all will be on full display at the Democratic National Convention in August. The statement therefore does not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris or any other Democrat as the party’s new nominee, but an aide said Obama is taking the same approach as with the 2020 Democratic primary, watching closely with the aim of being able to unify the party when it comes to choosing a candidate, whether it be Harris or someone else, News.ro writes.

Over the past few days, Barack Obama would tell those around him that President Biden’s chances of winning had shrunk dramatically, especially with June 27 election debate with Republican opponent Donald Trumpand therefore believes that the current Democratic president must seriously consider the feasibility of his candidacy.
