According to people familiar with the matter, Macau Airport was closed for several hours early this morning due to a cargo plane’s high-speed takeoff abort.
According to the source, the plane involved in the accident was Air India flight MYU862 bound for Kuching, Malaysia, and the airport was closed from 1:30 am to around 6:40 am.

A photo shared by the person, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, showed the plane parked on the tarmac after dawn, alongside a fire truck and other vehicles.
“It looked like when they aborted the takeoff, the plane had a flat tire, which is normal, and then had to be towed off the runway,” the source said.
Flight information on the airport’s website this morning showed three Air Macau overnight flights arriving late. A Jin Air flight to Seoul was also delayed. However, check-in for today’s flights appeared to be running normally.
Normally, takeoff is refused only when the aircraft is at a very high speed due to a serious malfunction.
