Less than a month after release His first album was titled “Enfant du soleil”Mohamed Sangaré, a sports journalist for the Burkina Faso News Agency and a grand slam artist known as “Hamtusin”, launched an attack on the performance hall of the National Center for Arts, Entertainment and Audiovisual (CENASA), where hundreds of fans had gathered to watch his concert on the evening of Friday, July 19, 2024.
Sports journalist and slam artist Mohamed Sangaré alias Hamtusin managed to organize his first concert, entitled “Burkina Faso, my fight”, a month after the release of his first album. This baptism of fire for the slam artist was marked by resilience and attracted hundreds of fans, acquaintances, friends and colleagues.
At the end of the concert, the artist answered journalists’ questions with satisfaction. He wanted to thank the public for the trip and the partners who carried this project to the end. Hamtussin also counts on the audience to judge his performance. He also promised to do more to help the Burkina Faso flag rise on the international stage.
“I want to start by thanking all those who came to this concert and encouraged us. Also those who wanted to make the trip but could not, who prayed for us tonight with all their heart and I thank them. Thank you to everyone, to all those who supported us and to our partners who made this first edition possible for us. This was my first concert and we did the best we could. Now we need the public to enjoy and continue to encourage us because this is the first edition, especially with the first album we just released. We want to continue like this and try to sell more Burkinabe colors internationally. We are happy for those who came on this trip and who gave us everything. A first concert is bound to have imperfections; we will learn, we will grow and we will do better,” he revealed.
Spreading a message of resilience
The artist said the main purpose of the concert, themed “Burkina Faso, my fight”, is to convey a message of resilience. “That is to say, no matter what role we play or what job we do, everyone must feel part of the fight that Burkina Faso is involved in today. Everyone must play their part. I am a slammer and these are the words of encouragement, awareness and advice that I can offer. Everyone in their respective fields can do the same. Only by uniting together can we defeat the enemy. Everyone must participate in the fight in their own way. We cannot all have guns, but everyone has his or her own gun. We have words, you (journalists) have microphones, others are dabbahs. We must be able to work together in the same direction so that Burkina Faso can return to the peace and tranquility of the past,” said Hamtussin.

Another aim of this concert by the Grand Slam artist was to revive the taste for an art that had begun to lose momentum in Burkina Faso. To this end, a Grand Slam competition was organized during the concert to prepare the next generation to restore the Burkinabe Grand Slam to its former glory. This competition was won by Carole Hien.
“The second goal is to revive interest in slam, because it’s true that slam in Burkina Faso has been hit for a while; we try to be a figure that young people identify with and revive slam. You see we added slam competitions to our concerts. Also in the performances we try to bring slam into the music, to show that slam has a place to stay, it can adapt to everything. This movement must be able to continue,” says Hamtusin.
It is worth reminding that this concert is supported by the production company “King Habib Prod” of the former Burkina Faso international footballer Habibou Sawadogo. The album “Enfant du soleil” by Hamtussin was also produced using this structure. The first manager of the production company, Habibou Sawadogo, is already ambitious and plans to open other, larger theaters in 2025.
