Reece Walsh says the return of Adam Reynolds could give him more space in Brisbane, with the midfielder returning to near-top form against Newcastle.
Walsh put the disappointment of the state game of origin behind him Saturday night, throwing for a touchdown and adding two assists in the Mustangs’ 30-14 win.
The guard looked just as dangerous as he had in months, targeting the Knights from both sides of the ball.
Walsh’s best performance since mid-May coincided with Reynolds’ return from a biceps tear, with the halfback producing a typically clinical display in Brisbane.
In doing so, he and Reynolds helped rejuvenate the Broncos, snap a six-game losing streak and show they are still a real threat.
“Reynolds is a quality player and he is captain of our club for a reason,” Walsh said.
“It was great to have him back tonight, freeing up a little bit of space for Ez and I to be able to play at the level we saw.
“His kicking skills helped a lot. We were probably a little rusty in some areas and some of the calls.
“But 12 weeks without Reynolds was a long time, so it’s great to have him back.”
