Saharan dust makes the sky gloomy

So, have you ever heard of the Saharan Dust Event? Apparently, it’s been around for a long time, but only recently have modern forecasts given us access to this natural phenomenon. It’s kind of crazy to think about, right? I mean, in the past, we would just see cloudy skies and maybe think, “Oh, it looks like it’s going to rain.” But now, because of the sneezes and the dust falling on everything, we know that it’s actually dust drifting in from the Sahara Desert.

Belize has been shrouded in a blanket of dust for the past few weeks. The skies are looking pretty gloomy, and even the sunsets have a dramatic, otherworldly feel to them. Say goodbye to those clear blue skies and hello to hot, humid, and windy weather—definitely not what you expect in May, right?

Anyway, I managed to snap a few pictures of the sky this morning while running errands around town and over the bridge. I thought I’d share them with you so you can see what I’m talking about.
