Russian offshore oil supplies have fallen to 3.1 million barrels per day over the past four weeks, the lowest level since January this year, and are considered a more important indicator than weekly values.
Bloomberg reported the information, citing data from consulting firm Rystad Energy.
Current volumes are 600,000 barrels below the April peak, according to analysts. They attribute the drop in exports to an increase in domestic refining, which hit a six-month high in July.
Russian seaborne oil supplies are expected to fall to 2.7 million barrels per day (bpd) in July and August before starting to increase in September when refineries begin routine maintenance.
Experts say that if drone attacks on refineries stop as they have in the past, oil supply will fall by no more than 3 million barrels per day in the fall.
There is no explanation for how the growth in the refining sector has coincided with fuel prices on the stock exchange rising to record levels. For example, AI-95 gasoline is close to its all-time high, while AI-92 gasoline and diesel prices are significantly higher than a year ago.
Given the situation, authorities are preparing to implement a gasoline export ban and extend it until September and October to avoid a repeat of last year’s fuel crisis when gasoline disappeared from gas stations in some areas.
